Storm Ophelia deposited quite a bit of Saharan Dust in the rainfall the other week so today I went up north of the border and did a safe wash to remove the very abrasive dust safely.
Post degrease, rinse, snow foam, rinse, two bucket wash.
Nicely dried with Gyeon Cure after snow foam sealed with CarPro HydroFoam.
Tyres, trim, wheel arches dressed and glass wiped down.
Interior vacuumed and driver’s seat shampoo’d.
All nicely finished off.
Even after several no touch washes this is what came off a two bucket wash.

amazing work, as always.
you should encourage the owner to debadge the rear fully. that one last “civic” badge looks so out of place with nothing on the right to balance it, and it’d look so tidy without it

Thanks.
It only had one badge and she’s not bothered about debadging it.

I wouldn’t dream of charging.
Money complicates things.

True. It was hard enough to get her to let me take the car dealership sticker out the rear window.

I don’t like bringing money into it.
I enjoy doing it.

Does the Civic have the Fit’s magic seats as well? That was always one of my favorite features of the Fit.
Car looks good, as always. The black hides a lot of the ugliness of the current gen Civic.

Would you say the UK is sick of North African dust particles showing up and coating your cars in filth, then expecting locals to clean up after them? If so, sign my petition!!!

They are on this the ninth gen Civic but not on the earlier eighth gen Civic.
I love those seats, especially how the leg locks the seat in the up position and how the seat drops down to the floor when the rear back is folded down.

Lol.
It’s quite common, mostly in the summer though.

interesting - we got several good dustings of forest fire ash this year, (quite rare out here - usually the wind blows it the other way...) I ended up just hosing it off before washing anything to reduce any scratching...

Any tips for shampooing the interior? The Outback needs some desperate love.

First. If you can get, either buy or borrow, a wet’dry vacuum cleaner, do so.
Get a good interior shampoo and a stiff nylon brush.

Saharan sand in very coarse and abrasive, the just mixes with the rain giving the sand some adhesion to the car’s surface.
The snow foam allows the sand to loosen from the surface.
It’s particularly aggressive (or rather, more noticeable) on dark coloured surfaces which show swirls more.

Do you have any opinions on ceramic coatings?
Svend

Yes.
They are good.
Lol.
The right coating can benefit the car’s paintwork and make your life easier keeping it clean and from swirls (which are mostly inflicted during the ash process which is why a good washing technique is important to keeping the down).

Whenever my BIL is in town, he always gets up early to wash and wax our cars and take them to fill the tanks. I think you two might get along.

How is he on beer?
He’s not a, yuck, can’t believe I’m going to say these, Coors, American Budweiser, Bud Light (or any ‘light’ beer), etc... drinker is he?

He likes a good beer, but he doesn’t drink much to keep his weight and cholesterol down. But if you hand him a good cold bottle...I mean, he’s not stupid.
